TSA is commited to supporting professionals in their work with young people. TSA Training focuses on knowledge, attitudes and skills. TSA is commited to supporting professionals.

TSA's training and development activities include:

Broadly these aim to:

  • Further knowledge and understanding of adolescence.
  • Disseminate current research findings.
  • Develop skills in work with young people.
  • Enable institutions and professional groups to work effectively with young people

Current work:

  • Tailor-made training on a range of subjects aimed at supporting workers in various settings to promote the mental health and wellbeing of young people.
  • New training materials for staff working with children and young people in custody (in progress).
  • Working with young fathers October 2001- March 2004 that will develop and test a model for working with young vulnerable fathers.
  • Wavelength: (2002-2004) Practical resources to help workers communicate effectively with young people.
  • Youth Voice2: (2002-2005) This project is about youth participation projects and the link to self esteem. It is in three geographical areas and focuses on young people at risk of emotional distress.

Training Materials

Drawing on our research and training initiatives, TSA has developed several resources around the topics of communication, parenting, and working with young offenders.
