This work took place when Young People in Focus (YPF) was callled the Trust for the Study of Adolescence (TSA)

Information and support for practitioners who are working with the parents of young people

Background

TSA has long provided information, resources and support for practitioners working with the parents of young people. This exciting new project is extending and developing the range of support that TSA can provide. The project is funded by a Strengthening Families Grant from the Department for Education and Skills.

The Projects

The project will involve a range of activities to support practitioners working with parents. There will be three main strands to the project:

The development of new and existing materials:
This will include a new version of the TSA Guide for parents 'Where to Look for Help', and the development of two new newsletters for parents, one for parents with disabilities, and one for Black and Minority Ethnic parents.

The provision of conferences and events in relation to the parenting of young people:
These will cover a range of topics, and will be run across England.

The creation of a 'first port of call' website for practitioners:
This will provide a range of information for practitioners in relation to the parenting of young people, including information and statistics, resources, project ideas and interventions, and signposting.

Timetable

The project is being undertaken over three years, from April 2005 to March 2008.

Project staff

Debi Roker is the project manager and grant holder. A range of TSA staff will also be working on the project.
