COMPLETED
An evaluation of the National Pyramid Trust’s ‘transitions’ project
Background
TSA recently completed a collaborative project with the National Pyramid Trust (NPT). The NPT provides programmes in primary schools, to support particularly vulnerable children. A new pilot project was recently run by the NPT in two London boroughs. This project provided ‘Pyramid Clubs’ for vulnerable children who were about to make the transition to secondary school. The aim was to provide extra support to those children, identified by parents and teachers as those likely to find the transition a difficult one.
The Project
TSA was contracted by the Department of Health to undertake an evaluation of this important new pilot project.
The evaluation explored the effects of the project on the children involved. It involved data collection with the children before and after their involvement in the Pyramid Club programme, as well as after they had transferred to secondary school. We also collected data on the views and experiences of project workers, parents, and teachers.
Outputs
This evaluation has now been completed, and a report submitted to the Department of Health. A copy of the full report and/or the executive summary are now available from TSA.
Project Workers
Julie Shepherd was the main researcher responsible for the project. Dr Debi Roker was the grant holder and project manager.
