This work took place when Young People in Focus (YPF) was callled the Trust for the Study of Adolescence (TSA)

An evaluation of NCVCCO’s
Parenting
Education Materials ‘roadshows’

Background

The National Centre for Voluntary Child Care Organisations (NCVCCO) were funded by the Parenting Fund during 2006, to run Parenting Education Materials (PEM) ‘roadshows’ across England. These roadshows included displays of materials, presentations on a range of parenting issues, and workshops exploring practice issues. TSA was commissioned to undertake the evaluation of this initiative, which has now been completed.

The Project

The evaluation was undertaken between November 2005 and June 2006, during the final stages of the PEM roadshows. The following tasks were undertaken in the evaluation:

  • an analysis of questionnaires completed by delegates at the end of each one day event
  • telephone interviews with a random sample of practitioners who had attended the events, with a particular focus on how useful the events have been in people’s work
  • observation of one event, including discussions with delegates about their experiences of the event.

The evaluation has now been completed, and a final report has been submitted to NCVCCO. A summary is available from TSA.

Staffing

Debi Roker was the project manager and grant holder, and Stephanie Stace undertook the fieldwork.
