The aim of YPF’s research team was to influence policy and practice in relation to work with young people. Getting research findings out to people who could use it was essential. Even though the organisation has now closed, this website contains a wealth of useful information.

The YPF research team carried out a wide range of activities to disseminate its work including:

  • making presentations and running workshops at practitioner conferences – these might include, for example, events aimed at those in education, social work, health, youth justice etc
  • making presentations and running workshops at academic and researcher conferences – for example at events organised by the British Psychological Society, Parenting UK, and the British Educational Research Association
  • writing journal articles and summaries for a range of written sources – including for practitioners Community Care, Young People Now, the Times Educational Supplement, and for academics Youth and Policy, Journal of Adolescence, Children and Society
  • producing research-based training materials and good practice guides – in particular the research team wrote and published a YPF Toolkit series, and a YPF Guide series
