NEW WORKSHOP
Supporting Young Fathers
- Spotlight on Promising Practice
3 November 2010 (Birmingham)
18 May 2010 (London)
The value of fathers to children’s wellbeing is increasingly documented, but around 40% of young fathers have little or no contact with their children after one year. Support services have tended to focus exclusively on mothers, but in recent years young fathers have been coming out of the shadows. This workshop will feature input from two leading projects in this field with plenty of opportunity to share ideas, consider what works and what to avoid, and to problem-solve.
The course covers:
- The benefits of father involvement for children
- What young fathers say about services
- Key messages from reviews of promising practice with young fathers
- Finding and engaging with young fathers
- Providing what young fathers want
- Different ways of working with young fathers (1:1, groupwork, couples)
- Involving young parents in developing services
Fees:
Statutory, independent and large voluntary organisations: £175. Individuals and small voluntary organisations: £140.
Young People in Focus standard cancellation charges apply.
