Group Work Skills for Working with Parenting Groups
5 July 2011 (London)
This course is ideal for those new to working with groups and/or parents, but will also be useful to those with some facilitation experience who want to brush up their skills. It aims to prepare practitioners to work effectively with parents in a group setting. The course draws on theory but provides participants opportunities to reflect on practice and to consider how to create a safe and supportive group work environment as well as consider how to handle difficulties in groups. We recommend doing this course alongside any of the accredited facilitator courses if you are new to running groups. There is a discount if both courses are booked together.
The course covers:
- Strategies to enable effective group work
- Managing group dynamics
- Facilitation skills
- The importance of group agreements
- Working flexibly to meet the needs of the group
- Co-facilitation
Fees:
Statutory, independent and large voluntary organisations: £155
Individuals and small voluntary organisations: £125
Young People in Focus standard cancellation charges apply.
